PURITY OF heart is the prerequisite for saintliness, to which we are all called (Matt. 5:8). The heart is not simply the seat for our emotions. Contained within it is the nous, an ontological receptor finely attuned to the divine, known both by early Greek philosophers and the Holy Fathers of the Church.
