«Православная Апологетика (или Основное Богословие) есть богословская наука, представляющая собою систематическое изложение, обоснование и защиту (апологию) основных христианских истин, как их понимает Православная Церковь. Эти истины суть: истина бытия Божия, истина бессмертия души человека и истина Божественного Откровения.» - из введения
Ivan Andreev (1894–1976) was a professor at Holy Trinity Seminary, where he taught apologetics, church history, literature, moral theology, and psychology. He was born in St. Petersburg, and studied philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of St. Petersburg. However, in his spiritual development he was formed by the writings of St. Theophan the Recluse, St. Ignatius Brianchaninov, the Optina Elders, and other bearers of traditional Orthodoxy. Opposed to Metropolitan Sergius’ declaration of loyalty to the Soviet government, he was an ardent member of the Catacomb Church. After the Second World War, he emigrated to America, where he became a professor at Holy Trinity Seminary. He wrote many articles and outside his involvement in the Church also gave lectures on medical subjects and literature.
